Governor's HY Pay Raise to Staffers

While our politicians continue to say 'raise taxes' instead of cutting, behind closed doors they're giving staff raises. Raises! During this economic downturn?

How can they get away with this?

Oh Good Grief!

Our Wasted Government

I think each new post for awhile will have to be about how our government is the root and cause of most (if not all) of our problems and why we need to cut government at least in half:

Is There a God?

Oakland Diocese settles: $56 million Agreement with sex-abuse victims ends 56 civil cases

It's very hard for me to believe that there is a God when this kind of thing happens.

Don't Call Progressive

I just hung up the phone on a Progressive Auto Insurance representative. I know it wasn't her fault to ask these questions, but I had to immediately end the call when she started to ask for my social security number.

I need new auto insurance. My current provider, Unitrin Direct, doubled my rates. Progressive was the next one on my list of many providers I needed to call.

Why Do You Need My Social Security Number?

While on the phone, the Progressive rep began to ask the standard questions: name, birth, address, etc. Then she asked for my email...okay. Then if I was single...okay. Then my social security number. Whoa! Back up. I asked if this was necessary and she said, "Yes." I began to give it to her and then asked if she'd be doing a credit check? She said yes, the quote would take about 15 minutes. I immediately cut her off and hung up.

Are you kidding? 15 minutes for a quote on auto insurance. Oh Good Grief! What really bothers me is that they needed my SSN and were going to do a credit check. First let me know approximately how much the rate or premium will be and then if I decided to go with Progressive, then you can know my life history and subject me to a credit check.

Wouldn't it save Progressive time (and money), if they just provided a simple quote first, instead of going through the long and tedious process of pretty much signing me up on the spot?

Oh Good Grief!

P.S. I went to AAA online and got a quote in less than 3 minutes with a rep to call me tomorrow. And it was inexpensive.

Government Decreasing Our Freedoms

Wow!

There is so much to talk about I don't know where to begin.

Let's talk about the House approving a flag-burning amendment.

Who is going to write the amendment? What words will be used? Will it say, "you can't desecrate the flag" or "you can't burn the flag"? If it's the latter, what type of flags? Or will this have to be decided when someone gets arrested & the court/judge will have to make a final ruling. If the wording is to "desecrate the flag", what if it's a flag pin and I throw it away? Or if I'm wearing an old T-Shirt (with the flag on it) with holes in it? Where are we going to draw the line?

Does this mean, we taxpayers, get to pay for all the court costs, regulations, and flag police? You betcha.

What if I pour paint on the 'a' flag? Or if I draw a picture of a flag, using crayons, and burn it or crumple is up?

This is another example of big, fat, bloated government doing everything and doing nothing for us at the same time.

Hey I got another...

The Supreme Court ruled that local governments "can force property owners to sell out and make way for private economic development when officials decide it would benefit the public."

Oh great! So now if it's in the best interest - of the government (who have ties to all corporations) - to build a mall because it would provide jobs & revenue for the local government, it's okay to seize your property or force you to move. Unbelievable.

Our government doesn't seem to be increasing freedoms, but doing more to decrease them. (Don't forget about the Patriot Act).

Oh Good Grief!

Smart Software Helps Stupid Humans

Software Detects Unhappy Callers
"Smart call-center tool is designed to help companies improve customer service by identifying callers who are upset. "

Are they kidding?

Are we that dumb? People now can't tell if other people are upset. Oh no, they can tell, but they can't relay the message to the appropriate supervisor.

The "system was aware of the customer's exasperation and automatically E-mailed a supervisor."

Oh Good Grief!

Just Say No...To Sex

How should you talk to your children about sex?

Tell them no sex, says a new government Web site that proclaims "abstinence is the healthiest choice."

These are the same people using and promoting Viagra, Levitra, Cialis, Acyclovir, Denavir and don't forget Valtrex. Apparently adults are having major trouble having sex.

Kids learn by example...and...Adults are the example. If adults do it, so will kids. If you don't want your kids to have sex, adults will have to stop. And you know that ain't going to happen.

Don't you just love the hypocrisy in Government?

Oh Good Grief!
